"Arabesque"
Sous la direction acrobatique de la compagnie acrobatique bruxelloise Back Pocket, en collaboration avec l’artiste photographe Zenzel, et, avec la participation des étudiants de l’ESAC (Ecole Supérieure des Arts du cirque de Bruxelles), « ARABESQUE » est un projet qui propose une réinterprétation de l’architecture bruxelloise Art Nouveau par les arts du cirque et les arts acrobatiques.
Cette exposition pluridisciplinaire rythmée par des œuvres photographiques, de la vidéo et des performances se veut éminemment contemporaine, vivante.
Portée par la jeunesse, elle amène les publics à poser un autre regard sur le courant Art Nouveau.
Comment les arts du cirque et l’Art Nouveau se répondent-ils? Comment le cirque contemporain peut-il mettre en lumière les bâtiments Art Nouveau, leurs courbes, leurs sinuosités pour nous inviter à redécouvrir le patrimoine architectural ? Comment, à l’inverse, l’Art nouveau peut-il mettre en exergue la corporalité du circassien ?

Under the acrobatic direction of the Brussels acrobatic company Back Pocket, in collaboration with the artist photographer Zenzel, and, with the participation of students from ESAC (Brussels School of Circus Arts), "ARABESQUE" is a project that offers a reinterpretation of Brussels Art Nouveau architecture through circus arts and acrobatic arts.
This multidisciplinary exhibition punctuated by photographic works, video and performances aims to be eminently contemporary, lively. Driven by young people, it leads the public to take another look at the Art Nouveau movement.
How do circus arts and Art Nouveau respond to each other? How can the contemporary circus highlight Art Nouveau buildings, their curves, their sinuosities to invite us to rediscover the architectural heritage? How, conversely, can Art Nouveau highlight the corporeality of the circus artist?
